So it’s been a week since I’ve accepted the challenge to be able to do all of the 44 exercises in the video I posted in my last installment .
Needless to say, this is a very good and tough challenge. Here are some of the things I’m learning more about my physical ability:
- I suck at pull-ups. I can do them, but I really need to nail them more often.
- I have a really bad asymmetrical balance in my body which I am finding to make some of the bodyweight exercises hard to do.
- I can do a lot of different variations of push-ups, and I almost have the 360 push-up. To be honest, I did fall on my face a few times
- I have pretty good core strength but my back strength is holding me back from performing a few of the hanging exercises.
- DO NOT try to do a back flip with out checking the height of your apartment ceiling. I came close to busting my head through the floor of my neighbor above me.
- I may have to stop doing as much resistance training and instead focus more on body weight exercises.
- I’m losing weight which is good. It’ll make things a little easier.
- It could be possible that I can train more frequently since I’m doing most workouts using just my body weight.
- I feel some good pressure on this challenge which is making me more accountable with how I’m working out, eating, resting, and making sure I stay healthy (I’ve been having problems with my left pec).
- I have about 20 more exercises that I need to work on. There are some where it’s really close to doing them and then the rest are laughable.
It’s okay, you can call me crazy .
I like crazy. We can all use a little bit of crazy in our lives. Is there something you want to achieve physically? Maybe it’s to run a marathon, do a Tough Mudder , compete in powerlifting or bodybuilding, or just simply get into the best damn shape of you life.
What ever it is, it’s essential to make sure you evaluate everything that’s goes into accomplishing that goal. You will learn so much about yourself not just physically, but also mentally and spiritually.
What’s your next adventure? What fitness goals do you have? Put it out there, set a date, and get working. There is no time better than the present. Don’t tell yourself, “I’ll start Monday.”
No. You start now. Having the “I’ll start later” mentality is a habit we all need to break because it sticks with you at all times. Don’t wait. Start now. Eat better, go for a job, do a few push-ups, get more rest, sign-up and pay for a competition. Do something, but do it now.
To accomplish a goal, you must evaluate the journey.
