Here is a list of Fat Burning foods.

Grocery shopping is a big event for me.  I live across the street from the market and probably visit there about 4 times every week.  The cashiers know me, and some even ask what I’m cooking for dinner.  I go there so often that there is a good chance they know how predictable I am when I shop.  I always have a grain, vegetables, fruits, and of course my protein.  That’s it.

I spend most of my time staying away from the aisles filled with processed food and stay on the outside perimeter. Yes, I know the aisles are filled with all the delicious snacks but if you are looking at making a lifestyle change and live healthier, it starts with your grocery list.

10 Fat Burning Foods:

1. Jalapenos

Jalapenos have a chemical called capsaicin, which will speed up your metabolism and heart rate.  They are a great addition to add some spice to meals, especially in a breakfast omelette.

2. Green Tea

Okay, yes green tea is found in the aisles.  You got me there.  Green tea contains a chemical that will cause the nervous system and brain to function faster and will aid you in burning more calories.  That’s always a good thing, more calories you burn = the more fat loss.

3. Chicken

I love chicken. Chicken is a high-metabolism boosting protein.  A good majority of my protein comes from chicken. But then again, I can eat chicken for every meal.

4. Pork

No, not bacon.  I’m talking about the lean pork chops that can be grilled and seasoned with fresh herbs.  This doesn’t mean you can smother them with a bunch of bbq sauce.  That’s not going to help the cause of having a fat burning meal.

5. Salmon

salmon omega 3 fatty acid

Salmon is filled with omega-3 fatty acids and everyone knows that these fatty acids are awesome.  Omega-3s can change the level of leptin, a hormone found in the body.  The lower your leptin levels the more calories you are able to burn.  I find the best way to cook salmon is either on the grill or baking them in the oven wrapped in a foil and seasoned with fresh herbs with a slice of lemon.  Good Stuff.

*Note:
As you can see.  LEAN protein is pretty big when it comes to burning fat and more calories.  Why is that? The more protein you consume, the harder your body has to work to digest it.  So your body is actually burning calories trying to digest the food you consume.  Eat protein! Vegetarians are like any other plant – they wilt.

6. Almonds and Walnuts

These are great for snacks, and yes they are found in the aisles.  They help you feel fuller longer and a great source of healthy fats we all need.  You will eat a much healthier lunch if you had a fistful of almonds around 10AM when most people can’t wait to dominate the lunch line.  Am I right?

7. Eggs

If you follow me on my Facebook page (which would be really nice if you did – to get quick tips) you would have seen that I accidentally bought 120 eggs from Costco.  Don’t ask me why.  I had 14 days before I left for Hawaii and in 12 days they were gone.  I actually had to go to the market one more time to get another dozen.

8. Blueberries

Look in my freezer and you will find frozen blueberries.  I’ve stocked up on them during their season and I am set for awhile.  First off, blueberries are very low in calories. Second, they are categorized as a “superfood” because they have a high concentration of antioxidants. Third, they are perfect in my protein sludge – that recipe coming soon..

9. Spinach and Green Vegetables

Here’s another reason why my favorite color is green and the Jolly Green Giant is jolly.  These vegetables are low in calories, low in fat, and take longer to digest.  Plus, if you are going to be taking in a lot of protein, it’ll be a good idea to add some vegetables.  Other green vegetables that fall in this category are: artichoke, asparagus, bok choy, broccoli, watercress, chard, and collard greens. You can even make Aipa’s Laulaus for an ultimate fat burning meal.

10. Grapefruit

Grapefruit is a great fruit.  It lowers insulin, regulates blood sugar levels and metabolism.  What more is there to say other than it’s an awesome to have during breakfast with splenda sprinkled on it.
