This post was inspired by Herb, an elder man who works out at the Kailua YMCA…

“Why are you so intense in the gym and push yourself so hard?” I’ve been asked several times.

I usually follow up with a smile, shrug, and a “because it’s good fun” sort of response. But what I really want to say is, “Why are you NOT intense in the gym and NOT pushing yourself hard?”  It’s all about you decide to approach things.

There are a ton of resources out there on how to get healthier, bigger, stronger, faster, look sexier, get leaner, lose weight, and everything else under the sun when it comes to your body.

I’m happy you’ve taken the time to read my blog and there are many other blogs that give great information.  But now once you have the information, what you do with it is your decision.

Before I decided to actually do something with nutrition, I’d spend hours researching and taking notes.  I became pretty knowledgeable about the basics of nutrition and had a ton of information.  But I didn’t do anything with it.  I continued eating whatever I wanted and it was no wonder I wasn’t seeing the results I wanted.

Then I made the decision to actually put the information I received into action.

I’m not here to force people to live a more active and healthier lifestyle.  Nor am I try to sell a program for me to make money, although I do offer online coaching.

I’m here to inspire an active and healthier lifestyle while giving you information to use on your journey towards achieving the body and success you want.  I truly do believe that once you make that decision and gain control of your mind, then my friend, you can achieve anything you want.

I’d suggest starting with your body because like I was told by an elder man in the gym – your body is the most thoughtful gift you’ll ever receive.

That is why I train so hard and see the gym as my sanctuary and place of peace.  It’s the one place I can get away from dealing with the frustrations of life.  When I step into the gym, I was in charge and could decide whether I succeeded or not.  It’s my place to grow physically, mentally, and spiritually.

When the weight is loaded on the bar and the challenge is right in front of you, it’s your decision on how you are going to step up to the task.  This goes towards everything in life.  How you approach a task is totally up to you.

Mahalo Herb.
