Change Your Thoughts

Your mind is everything.  What you think you become. -Buddha

Your perception becomes your reality.

I’ve mentioned this many times in past posts but I haven’t really dug into it.  I’m still learning how to change the way I think and speak to myself to improve  my outlook on my reality. I have first hand experience and I’m sure you have too, but need to be more consistent.

You probably had mornings where you woke up and felt like you were already in a bad mood.  Like that saying – “You woke up on the wrong side of the bed.” Then as the day progresses, you find things aren’t going your way which makes you feel even worse.

Or what about your feelings towards your job.  There’s a rude person you have to deal with on a daily basis, you are always stressed, your boss doesn’t recognize your contribution, you don’t get along with your colleagues, or maybe you find yourself unhappy with what you are doing.

When these negative events happen in our lives we are quick to blame external factors and especially others.  But the truth of it all, is exactly this – you are your thoughts.

Your outer world is a direct reflection of your inner world.

That is why harnessing your Mana is essential to create change in your life. Remember, Hawaiians believe that all things have Mana, and the Mana you have is a reflection of the thoughts you hold and the life you live.

This may be hard for you to hear, but  if you aren’t happy or feel like nothing is going your way then guess what…

it’s your fault.

It’s hard to believe.  I know.  I felt the same way when I came across this.  If someone came to me and told me you aren’t where you want to be because of your thoughts and actions, I would instantly become defensive and want to slap the person.

But today I believe it’s true.

When you fill your mind with the hardships and negatives in your life, you will constantly be held down.  Debt. Bad relationships. Bad health.  Don’t like your job.  Feel unappreciated.

It’s your fault.

The great thing is that we can change it all. But, I’m not going to say it can be easily done.  It takes work.  A lot of your beliefs and thoughts have probably been around since you were a child and it’s going to take a conscious effort to change your mindset.

5 Ways to Take Action

1.  Think about why you think the way you do. We have beliefs and thoughts ingrained in our minds for a reason.  What we think is not something that all of a sudden jumped in our head. Maybe it’s what your parents or someone influential talked about a lot.  It could be caused by the people who surround you.  We are easily influenced by those we keep around.

2.  Make an honest decision to change your thinking. Instead of telling yourself – “I am not a morning person” - change it to “I am a morning person.” Tell yourself this every morning, write it on your mirror, post it on your fridge.  Think of an aspect in life you want to improve and make an honest effort to change your thought approach.  It is important to do  Take Action #1 before you make an honest decision.

3.  Change your language. The way we speak and think to ourselves effect everything we are and do.  Instead of thinking or saying “I’ll never be successful”, you can change your language to “How can I become successful”.  By changing your language you can change your thoughts.  Instead of thinking “I can’t afford it,” switch that with “How can I afford it.”

4.  Surround yourself with like-minded people. If you are constantly around those who nag and whine about their jobs, there is a really good chance you do the same.  It is important to surround yourself with people who think the way you want to be thinking.  Positive and optimistic people attract positive and optimistic people.

5.  Check your Mana Account. Keep a high Mana Account.  This is your magic power for manifesting what you want and deserve.  Living Pono is a great way to start to keep your Mana levels high.  If your Mana starts to decrease you need to reassess what’s going on in your inner world.
